Pekanbaru, – Fakultas Syariah dan Hukum Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau, menggelar pelaksanaan Debat Hukum se – Sumatera. Acara ini diikuti oleh 12 tim yang terdiri dari 36 peserta perwakilan Fakultas Hukum se Sumatera.
Debat hukum ini sendiri diperlombakan dengan mengambil tema diantaranya, tentang para tersangka koruptor dihukum mati, pembakar hutan dihukum penjara seumur hidup, dana kompanye ditanggung oleh APBN, KPK Vs Polri dalam menangani kasus korupsi, Tenaga Kerja Asing wajib berbahasa Indonesia, dan beberapa lainnya.
Acara yang diagendakan selama 3 hari dimulai pada tanggal 8-10 November 2015 tersebut, langsung mendapatkan penilaian dari juri Kastulani, SH, MH yang merupakan pakar hukum dan kemudian juri Dosen Fakultas Hukum Universitas Indonesia (UI) Jakarta, kemudian Asril, SHI, SH, MH Sekretaris Jurusan Fakultas Syariah dan Hukum UIN Suska, dan Firdaus, SH, MH dosen Fakultas Syariah dan Hukum UIN Suska. Peserta debat hukum ini berasal mahasiswa Fakultas Hukum dari Provinsi Kepulauan Riau, Jambi, Sumatera Utara, dan Sumatera Barat. Sedangkan peserta dari Provinsi Riau berasal dari Fakultas Hukum Universitas Riau (UR), Fakultas Hukum Universitas Islam Riau (UIR), Universitas Lancang Kuning (Unilak) dan UIN Suska Riau yang sekaligus sebagai tuan rumah.
Untuk pemenang Olimpiade debat hukum ini, juara I diraih oleh tuan rumah atas nama Yudi Utama Tarigan, Gali Gumilar dan Gunawan Muhammad dari Fakultas Syariah dan Hukum UIN Suska Riau.
Untuk pemenang II diraih oleh mahasiswa Fakultas Hukum dari Sumatera Utara, dan pemenang ke III diraih oleh mahasiswa Fakultas Hukum Universitas Riau (UR).
